Who wants this site shut down?

Recently someone was under oath in court in Mwanza, Tanzania and was instructed to name the author of this blog. They disclosed my identity and were then asked to tell me to shut down the blog or at least stop posting things. I obviously am not willing to stop informing people about the illegal, immoral and abusive behaviour of the board of directors of Hisani Centre for Women's and Children's Rights and any police, social worker or government official that has been bribed, threatened or coerced into allowing this blatant child abuse to continue. I would like to state, however, that I highly respect the legal system and country of the United Republic of Tanzania and if anyone officially asks me to help to make the proceedings more fair by shutting down this site I would probably comply. If you are in such a person you can reach me by sending an email to the following address : therealhisani@gmail.com.

How can I Help?

There are many ways you can help.  Getting the word out to as many Hisani stakeholders as possible is job number one.  If we cut off their funding we will have a much better chance of beating them in court.  I also would really like to see organizations such as Volunteer Africa stop sending volunteers.  Apart from all the bad things happening to the children, I don't think its a very safe place to be sending young people who want to help.  People who find out what Hisani is really like when they are there often wish they hadn't come.  Its a safety risk and a waste of time, money and effort for people who are coming to Africa for the first time to try and help those less fortunate.  I have sent the same letters as I gave social welfare to every website I could find that is collecting money for Hisani or sending volunteers.  So far only Colin from Kids Aid Tanzania has replied and he still seems to be on the fence in the matter.  If you agree with me that no more volunteers should be sent to Hisani please contact the organization that you came with and tell them so.

Social Services in Mwanza Tanzania  is dragging their feet on investigating Hisani.  When they finish their report, if they glaze over the problems I intend to start a letter writing campaign to the Commissioner in social services in Dar.  Stay updated on the blog for more information on this.

If you have any evidence that may help our case such as emails, journal entries or pics regarding child abuse or misappropriation of funds please send them to us directly at: therealhisani@gmail.com

Media attention is key for a situation like this where the government won't do anything without extreme external pressure.  If you can, send a letter to your local or national media agencies detailing your own accounts and quoting anything you wish from this website.  Then if they take any action, send us the article or a link to the story so that we can send it to the appropriate people in Tanzania.  International chidren's rights agencies would also serve this purpose if they were willing to contact the board of hisani or the local government.  If you are involved with any or know anyone who is please ask them to look into it and send them a link to this website.

I have never done anything like this before and I certainly don't consider myself an expert.  If you have any ideas on a course of action that we have not yet considered please suggest it to us, either by email at therealhisani@gmail.com or on the comments space on the blog.

We need money to fight.  Our own bank accounts are wiped out from bribes, transport, communication, security and school fees for the children who have fled Hisani. I don't want this to be a money raising website so I'm not going to push the matter or make a "donate" button but if you feel that is the way you can help send us an email and we can talk to you directly about it.

Thanks for caring.  We need your support, in whispers or shouts!
